Polishing and finishing your work is just as important to the overall piece as making it is!
In most classes, there is not enough time to focus on this aspect of making so this intensive day class is designed to do just that. Throughout the day you will be shown how to achieve a range of finishes in metal from a mirror finish and textures to a satin finish and using hammering and a range of other methods to achieve texture.
At the start of the day, students will be given a set of metal blanks and encouraged to try out different finishes on them, to experiment and see what suits different designs.
Techniques covered in this class include:
- Correct use of files
- Using sanding and emery paper
- Using a Dremel and pendant motors in finishing and polishing
- Texturing
- Using hammers
- Achieving a mirror finish
- Achieving a satin finish
- How to clean up solder joints to a professional standard and much more...
