Introducing an exciting new masterclass in advanced stone setting with master stone setter Scott McIntyre.

Join us for this one-off in-person masterclass and spend 3 days learning to make a halo ring, complete with a central claw and pavé setting around the outside. 

Please note the images shown are from the online course and the actual project for this class will be slightly different but similar as it is a completed halo ring. 

Scott will guide you through the process of making the full ring. Covering each process step-by-step from selecting the right stones, measuring and shaping, to soldering the claws, setting the stones and everything in between.

We can't wait - it's going to be a fantastic class! 

Who is this class for?

This is an advanced level course for jewellers who have previously done claw settings, some pave setting and ring making and are looking to combine all these skills together in one complete piece. 

We recommend jewellers have taken soldering classes, stone setting classes, claw setting, collet setting and pavé stone setting before taking this class. You need to be confidant in soldering, drilling and basic claw setting to get the most from the masterclass. This is a one-off masterclass and it runs on three consecutive days from Wednesday 15th - Friday 17th October 2025.

Each day runs from 10am-5pm.

There are a maximum of 8 students per class. 

 

Scott McIntyre is a Master Goldsmith and Founding Director of Vanilla Ink Jewellery School & Studios. With over 25 years of experience in the jewellery industry, there isn’t much Scott doesn’t know! After years of working as a jeweller in high-end workshops across Scotland’s Central Belt, he found his calling as a naturally gifted tutor.

Scott is a thorough, deliberate and professional tutor.

Scott is the author of the very popular book ‘Stone Setting’ - so who better to teach you!

 

Included in the cost of the course are all of the basic materials needed. As it is a challenging project we will be making in silver. Your class materials are included including silver for the ring, and a selection of stones. Of course, you will also have use of our fully equipped studios during your classes and expert tuition.
