Are you ready to master your soldering?
As a jewellery maker, when you are confident in your soldering skills every thing else is so much easier, and what's more, you can create more intermediate and advanced designs.
So this class was designed as an intensive day to push your soldering skills up a level. Without the pressure of making a finished piece, you can spend the day learning about a variety of different types of soldering, from soldering chain and jumprings, to sweat-soldering and creating 3-dimensional shapes.
This is an improvers level class and all students do need to take the Beginners Silver Jewellery I (or equivalent) before joining.
Get expert help with your soldering including:
- Making multiple joints in the same piece (working with different types of solder when needed)
- Techniques for soldering more challenging and complex joints
- Using the correct equipment and tools for the soldering job
- Heat conduction and tips for your soldering
- Troubleshooting any issues that may arise so you can feel confident correcting mistakes with soldering.
Throughout the day we will start from the basics of soldering and work upwards setting a range of tasks and projects to explore soldering in a new way. As this is a technique focus class you may not making any finished pieces but will have a bunch of soldered items to take away and remind you of the processes used. And next time you make a piece, soldering will be a breeze!
These can then be incorporated into new designs at home if you wish.
