Let's make some stunning pear collets!
A great follow on from the round collet setting course is to learn how to work with corners and create a pear collet setting.
Pear collets are settings that look beautiful on rings, pendants and earrings alike and you can start to make fine jewellery as you develop your techniques in this field.
What level is this class?
This is an intermediate to advanced level class. All students are required to have completed the the collet setting round course or equivalent classes elsewhere.
You need to be confident in creating round collets before moving onto pear shaped. We also expect students on this class to be confident with sawing, filing and soldering in silver.
What you will learn on the class:
- Assessing a stone for pear collet setting
- Creating the setting for the stone using sheet silver
- Preparing the setting using burrs and setting tools
- Soldering the finished mount to a ring or jumpring (if you like)
- Setting the stone using pushing tools and files to create a finished piece.
